Bark, gravel, sand or wood chips for the playground flooring in Vienna: a natural choice.
Vienna, thanks to its several equipped parks, is at the top of the world ranking of towns with the best quality of life. Half of its territory includes green areas like parks, gardens and forests, which become places for leisure and aggregation. Therefore it is not a coincidence that the town chose to pave the play areas with natural materials such as bark, gravel, sand, banning cement and synthetic products.
Here, there is one of the latest achievements in the city of Vienna, that is an urban park paved with natural bark which has been recently installed by Legnolandia thanks to its Austrian Partner.
The bark, the wood chips, the gravel and the sand, are perfect materials to absorb fall traumas, as indicated in the playground safety standard EN-1176: 2018. Thanks to their elasticity they are certified to absorb the impact for falls up to 3 meters height. The easy availability and installation (without cement) also allows a considerable saving.
Wooden walkways can complement the play area to facilitate the approach to wheelchairs.
The use of natural materials can let you save up to 80% in a playground building process or its maintenance, in compliance with the minimum environmental criteria - GPP.
